The Future of Home-Care

The demand for home care services has hit an all-time high and continues to rise. Being only in the beginning of the baby boomer years it is expected that by 2020 over half of the population will be 60 and over. This poses a threat of economic imbalance in the home-care industry. While business for home-care agencies, facilities, and institutions stand to see a large increase in clients, the industry--being flooded-- will fall short on supplying this demand.

What does this mean for people needing home-care services? Many face the possibility of being unable to receive home-care services as needed due to a shortage of companies that supply these services. What now appears to be an abundance of agencies existing that provide home-care services will in the future be considered a shortage of agencies. Not because they no longer provide these services or because there will be less agencies, but because the demand will increase so largely that the current amount of suppliers of this service will no longer suffice.

For start-up companies, companies looking to expand, or companies looking to integrate now is the time to act. The amount of companies offering home-care services needs to grow with the demand in order to insure everyone in need of home-care services will be able to receive them.
